AND THE DREAM CONTINUES
THE BOORMAN BOBBER APPEARS
AT THE 2008 CAROL NASH BIKE SHOW
AT THE NEC BIRMINGHAM
A couple of years ago Jon met Charley Boorman at a bike show in the UK and from this meeting it was decided that the boys in the shop would build him a bike.
For those of you who dont know who Charley is well he is an actor/adventurer and a UK ambassador for UNICEF. His films include, Deliverance, The Emerald Forest, Race to Dakar, Long Way Down, Long Way Round and his new adventure By Any Means.
If you have not seen any of the round the world biking doccumentaries I would advise you to do so as they are an excellent watch,
Anyway I am rambling again. Charley was very specific in what he wanted and the Boorman Bobber was the result, you can find out more on the technical side by going to the Hawghaven website on the left.
As well as the specific style of the bike he wanted it to look like it had been lying in a garage uncared for over the past 20 years. Some people at the show thought it looked unfinished so I guess he got the desired effect.
On the whole the bike was well recieved by the 350,000 visitors to the show, which is the largest indoor bike show in the UK.
Charley was over the moon with the bike or was it the Carol Nash Babes which had him smiling like he won the lottery. He has his HQ in Kensington so you will be seeing him riding the Bobber to work as he is not a trophy person he is a proper biker who will ride in all weather and lets face it the distressed look of the bike can only be enhanced by any real rust and salt damage.
I am sure he will lend it to Jon for a few future shows so you will get a look at it perhaps at the Excel show in January.
